The Importance of Relatable Stories and Characters

You’ve read about the Peekapak Pals in our stories and followed them on their learning adventures. Now, get ready! This summer, we’ll be sharing exciting new details about each of the Peekapak Pals that you’ve come to know and love..

The World of Peekapak is an exciting place. Students interact with an original Peekapak storybook every month featuring the Peekapak Pals as they work through real-life situations and embark on new adventures.

This school year, we had the Peekapak Pals learn and model new skills, such as Leo teaching us about self-regulation, Cody realizing a thing or two about gratitude, and Zoey learning the golden rule of respect – to treat others the way we would want to be treated, too. Each character approached the concept of focus differently to show students that how we deal with our problems is in our control and can be unique to us!

Children learn best when they can relate to the events in the stories and connect with the characters. When children read Peekapak stories, our goal is for them to identify a character who resonates with them and reflects how they may think and feel in similar situations. Classrooms today are so diverse in terms of ability, appearance and backgrounds – Peekapak books showcase and celebrate this diversity! We aim for all children to feel welcome in Peekapak classrooms and motivated to join in on important conversations as they learn and grow with the Peekapak Pals.
